When it comes to scent and flowers, things tend to be culture-specific. In Western culture, lavender is generally thought to be a non-romantic flower. In fact, it tends to conjure up images of elderly women. In the ‘language of flowers’ which was a sort of code by which people could express how they feel about someone by giving them particular flowers, lavender means refinement, grace, and elegance.
In aromatherapy, lavender is used to bring relaxation, ease of worry and also to aid in sleep.
With all of this in mind, lavender really isn’t considered to be a romantic flower.
