In 1965, administration of the TOEFL was taken over by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and the College Board.
TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a foreign Language “Internet Based”) measures student’s ability to use and understand English at University Level evaluates the eligibility on Reading, Writing,Listening and Speaking skills.
It has been introduced in phases, with the United States, Canada, France, Germany, and Italy in 2005 and the rest of the world in 2006, with test centers added regularly.
Some advantages of TOEFL iBT :
It is widely acceptable by 9.,000 Institutions in 130 different Countries.
It is similar and unbiased for all students.
Questions are 100% academic and replicate real classroom situations.

TOEFL PBT (Test of English as a foreign Language “Paper Based”) has been closed by ETS in July 2017 and replaced by TOEFL iBT.
It was for those students who leave in that area where Internet is not available. But now all most all the Universities who accept TOEFL no longer consider for PBT.
So, TOEFL iBT is more widely acceptable in more than 9,000 Universities and more relevant for students who wants to go abroad for their further studies.
