I tulipani erano bei fiori che avevano un certo valore. L'unica cosa che vedo guardando la mania dei bitcoin è la stupidità umana che non ha confini. Non sto parlando dei commercianti intelligenti che farebbero soldi commerciandolo, senza preoccuparsi della stupidità che c'è dietro. Un trilione di market cap non è uno scherzo. È più del PIL della maggior parte dei paesi.

Bitcoin avrà valore solo quando almeno un governo lo accetterà come valuta valida. Ma perché un governo dovrebbe farlo? Non permetteranno alcuna valuta che non sia qualcosa che possono stampare o creare dal nulla.

L'estrazione di criptovalute consuma più di un miliardo di unità di elettricità all'anno. Questa stupidità sta effettivamente inquinando il nostro ambiente.

Si può obiettare che l'oro non è stupido come il bitcoin? Non è durato qualche migliaio di anni? Beh, in una certa misura sì, la maggior parte del valore dell'oro deriva dalla sua rarità, il che è effettivamente stupido. Ma almeno non si può biforcare l'oro e creare un metallo raro alternativo.

C'è solo un problema - la maggior parte delle persone nel mondo finanziario e l'uomo comune non capiscono la tecnologia. Pensano che sia una tecnologia straordinariamente figa. Non è così. Era solo un progetto divertente per una persona sconosciuta che non ha mai pensato che qualcuno lo avrebbe preso sul serio.

Long before JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon took a shot at bitcoin in 2017 we had our own local financial prophet, former president of the Dutch Central Bank, Nout Wellink, who had made exactly the same comparison in 2013 when Bitcoin had reached a peak value of $ 1000.[1]

This was the same man who, as president of the Dutch Central Bank, didn’t see the financial crisis of 2007–2008 coming. Who was running the same national bank that had been totally uncritical of any overleveraging of banks and shady financial derivatives. When this house of cards eventually collapsed the banks needed to be bailed out by the government.[2]

Meanwhile Bitcoin has been around for almost 10 years. The comparison with a short lived commodity spike in the 17th century, that was long forgotten until it was rediscovered in the 19th century for sensation purposes, is simply put fake news. After all this time the comparison makes less and less sense.

In 2017 Jamie Dimon also said he would fire anyone of his employees who would dare to invest in cryptocurrencies. Of course that didn't mean they weren’t experimenting with blockchains and looking for ways to gain from this themselves. [3]
