BU ranks a bit lower than most Ivy league schools on college ranking websites. This is because it has a much higher student population and a much higher acceptance rate. But people jump the gun in assuming this ranking makes it a strictly worse school. However, after having been here for over 2 years, here is why it isn’t:

• The majority of students here are very hard working. Most of them don’t slack off.
• This is a really hard school! Just because it is lower on the list, does not mean that it is easier to graduate. Grade deflation at BU is ranked higher than most Ivies. It’s hard to get good grades, and you have to work your tail off.
• Each individual college, is superb. I’m in both the music school and the liberal arts school. The music school is incredibly prestigious, the faculty are all very well qualified (many from the Boston Symphony Orchestra), and superb at what they do. The facilities are pristine. The liberal arts school has a wide range of classes to take, and is also stocked with highly qualified professors. In general, the professors here are amazing.
• The food is way better than most dining hall food.
• The school is huge!

At the end of the day, a student who wastes their time at BU or an Ivy is not going to be that successful. Some people argue about the “name-brand” that schools like Harvard, and Yale have, but employers don’t just look at the name of the school and hire you. They look at your experiences, opportunities you have taken, and rigor of the work you have taken on in whatever university you are in.

Also, remember that college isn’t just about getting employed. It’s about developing professional studying and working habits, making connections in your fields of interest, accumulating real-world experience, gaining knowledge, and having fun. Just because you got into an Ivy, does not mean you have to go there. Forse un'altra università funzionerebbe meglio per te.

TL,DR: Il prestigio non è tutto. La Boston University è una scuola fantastica, con una pletora di opportunità, proprio come qualsiasi Ivy. Sta a voi cogliere il giorno e approfittare dell'opportunità che ciascuno presenta per raccogliere i benefici di ogni scuola.

Incredibilmente difficile da confrontare. Probabilmente suggerirei che se entri in una scuola della Ivy League la frequenteresti rispetto a BU. Non per suggerire che BU non abbia college meravigliosi a seconda di ciò che vuoi studiare, ma una delle scuole della Ivy League è probabilmente altrettanto buona o migliore. Se stai cercando un posto per studiare musica, o terapia fisica, o ingegneria biomedica, o qualsiasi altra cosa, BU potrebbe essere un ottimo posto dove andare. Ma se sei entrato a Cornell per l'ingegneria, potresti cercare di andare lì, dato che tende ad essere il top per l'ingegneria tra le Ivies. Harvard, Princeton, Penn, sono tutte tra le migliori scuole del mondo, per non parlare del paese. BU sarebbe una grande scuola di sicurezza se pensi di avere una grande possibilità di entrare in una scuola della Ivy League. Ho comunque fatto domanda a BU, e mio figlio ha fatto domanda a due scuole della Ivy League e sfortunatamente era probabilmente un candidato da bolla, e probabilmente sarebbe stato in grado di gestire il carico di lavoro, ma non è entrato in nessuna di quelle a cui ha fatto domanda, ed è entrato a BU. Quindi questo è il mio giro. Nessuna critica a BU, tuttavia, è un posto meraviglioso per trascorrere quattro anni. Io l'ho fatto. Anche mio figlio lo farà, e mio padre mi ha detto molte volte che non gli piaceva Harvard. Ma andate a guardare le classifiche di US News and World Reports, visitate Harvard, Yale, Penn, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown. Poi visitate BU. Ma di nuovo, se stai guardando le scuole della Ivy League, probabilmente non stai guardando BU. Potresti voler guardare a scuole come la Carnegie Mellon o la Washington University di St. Louis, ma se stai guardando le scuole della Ivy League, BU è la tua scuola di sicurezza. Diamine, anche la NYU è la tua scuola di sicurezza se stai facendo domanda alle scuole della Ivy League.
