There is no way to eliminate any insect permanently. There are methods for controlling the damage done and lowering the populations. They can be handpicked or you can use insecticidal soap safely on most edible plants, The slugs are very sensitive to all chemicals, but there are actually no recommended insecticides for this particular pest- just be careful to use one that is safe for fruit trees if your tree is a fruiting one. Do not use sprays when bees are active and the flowers are open. You can also force the bugs off by using a forceful stream of water. You can use wood ash on the slugs to kill them also.
