Technically matcha tea bags aren’t matcha! That’s because the word matcha means powdered in Japanese. So basically matcha green tea is powdered green tea.
It’s healthier to drink powdered green tea because you ingest the whole leaf when you drink it, rather than brewing it in a bag. Brewing green tea in the traditional way is kind of like making broccoli for dinner, boiling it in a pan but throwing out the vegetable and just drinking the broccoli water. You end up chucking 80% of the nutritional value and benefits into the bin.
That’s why matcha green tea is so much more powerful than ordinary green tea leaves!

My favourite matcha is this ginger one from EatCleanTea.
