Are bananas a herb?
Technically, yes, because the “tree” it grows on contains no woody tissue, making it an herbaceous plant, or herb for short. The fruit of the banana is technically a berry.[1]
In reality, however, only the most pedantic sticklers (and possibly banana farmers or scientists) will refer to bananas as anything other than a fruit.
To repurpose an old chestnut, knowledge is knowing bananas are an herb and wisdom is not sprinkling them over baked fish.
