It is not a matter of “must” but rather “could”.

Rooting, in laymen's terms, means removing the shackles bounding your phones set by your device manufacturer for more stable and general usage. Rooting a phone is not a biohazard by any means. So, you could root your phone.

As everything, Rooting has two sides to it. The Pros and the Cons

  1. PROS:
  • You can have full control over your device and can change any settings or aspects, mostly using 3rd party softwares
  • You can uninstall bloatwares (those shitty apps that come preinstalled in your phone that you're never going to use like Google Hangouts)
  • You can change how your device looks like I the system UI (using Substratum engine)
  • You can change fonts (using apps like iFont)
  • You can add many additional features like sidebars, custom remapable buttons, etc
  • You can flash custom recoveries like TWRP, Clockwork mod, etc
  • You can install custom OS

2. CONS:

  • It voids warranty
  • It might brick your phone
  • It might make your device unstable

Ways of Rooting:

There are usually two methods for rooting— the easy way and the hard way

  1. The easy way: This way entails you using 3rd party Android apps like Kingroot, Kingo root, etc. You don't need to do much, just install them, launch them and follow instructions. Voila! And you're rooted. But this method is not surefire as not all mobile devices are supported and the high tier flagships are rarely successfully rooted.
  2. The hard way: The hard way entails two sub categories on basis of resources utilized.
  • Smartphone only. This method usually requires only the phone. If you are running a custom recovery image like TWRP it is pretty simple, you need to download a Root flash file like the ones Super SU provides and flash it. And you're done.
  • PC + Smartphone: Most phones don't come with custom recovery, and it's not easy flashing a recovery image boot. To flash one you need to have your bootloader unlocked, Some OEMs like One Plus, Sony allow bootloader to be unlocked (and there are individual methods for each OEMs). If your bootloader is unlocked you can use ADB TOOLS to flash custom recoveries or sometimes even root. Other ways using a PC is for devices like Samsung, custom recovery can be installed using the ODIN software, and hence rooted. Some other 3rd party PC apps also provide Rooting services but these methods are often complex and not surefire.

PS. Sometimes, custom ROMs come with inbuilt Root options provided by developers. You can access this in the “Developer options” in settings. Usally developers include root options in ROMs CyanogenMod ROMs, etc

Altrimenti 'NO'.
