All cherry blossoms produce fruit. Some are not very tasty, but some species produce cherries that are good to eat, like the kind in markets. I'm assuming your cherry blossom is supposed to be decorative. It is just doing what a fruit tree does, totally normal.

Also it occurred to me that you may have had the cherry blossom for a long while and this is the first time it is fruiting. It could be that it has just finally reached maturity. Most fruit trees do not produce for the first few years.
