Hii, firstly one should know how photosynthesis take place. It takes places at PAR means photosynthetic active radiation which runs from 400–700 nm of whole sunlight radiation. In a nutshell , we can say only part of solar radiation is utilized by plants for performing photosynthesis, not whole sunlight.

Now ,let's come to point of indoor plant .And there happens two cases :

1. Indoor plant at dark means without room light i.e. tube light .in this no photosynthesis will takes place and plant will die eventually
2. Secondly, indoor plant kept at tube light, then in this case good photosynthesis is observed.This is explained as under:
   1. As , when we compare action and absorption spectrum then we find that maximum action means photosynthetic occurs in blue and red light of PAR(which I mentioned earlier)
   2. And also in absorption spectrum maximum absorption takes place at Blue and red light.,and hence we got our answer i.e No matter where our plant is whether indoor or outdoor if blue light is available to plant which is available generally to indoor plant then definitely photosynthesis will take place.

In reality though, plants don’t necessarily need sunlight but just light in general since they make us of the energy in the light.

Now, light from the sun and light from a bulb would be of varying intensities, but the light from the bulb is still a usable source considering the energy transmitted through the light wave.

The requirements for photosynthesis are:

• Carbon dioxide (via stomata in leaves)
• Water (via roots)
• Light energy (usually from Sun, but really any will do)
• Chlorophyll (present in the mesophyll cells in the leaf)
