Sedum. Drought tolerant, Deer and disease resistant, Full Shade to Full Sun. Long bloom time in the fall. Incredibly easy to propagate: Break off a stem, poke a hole in the soil, stick it in and water it. You can even chop them to 4″ stems and toss them into the bed and they will root. They are not invasive.

The only maintenance is to cut then back in June if you want shorter stalks in the fall. Every stem that you trim can be planted.

I started with 5 plants in the 90s and now have borders of them in several hundred plants.

Red flowers grow to 18″ tall, Pink flowers to 14″ tall and white to about 10″ tall.
After the first hard frost, break them off at the base and mulch the stems.

Attracts bees, hummingbirds, butterflies especially Monarch.
Every year I give away/mulch thousands of cuttings.
