It should be fine as long as the chickens are full grown large fowl birds. Most chickens are too large for a cat to take on.
You may want to rethink your plan to let chickens live in your garden, however. Chickens are awful in the vegetable garden. They scratch up and pull out seedlings, they take bites out of your veggies just as they become ripe--and they don't really keep the bugs down. If you meant flower garden, also beware, chickens love to scratch up and destroy mulched beds and poo on sidewalks and decks. Finally, if it's a small grassed area, chickens may destroy the grass and rip and scratch it out to bare earth. In our chicken pasture, which is 75'x125', a full third of the area nearest the hen house is scratched to bare earth each year. Just wanted to give you fair warning!
