When you don't have the proper conditions to grow anything, you have only a few options:

1. Change the growing conditions to match the demand. This means grow lamps, windows, or buying a greenhouse. Any source of light is better than nothing, but if you're going to go to the trouble of modifying your environment for the benefit of the orchids then I strongly suggest that you choose lamps designed for growing plants rather than just office lighting.
2. Change your tastes to accommodate your conditions. This might mean attempting only the least light-demanding orchids, such as Paphiopedilums or Phalaenopsis.
3. Grow your orchids somewhere else and then bring them into your home only when they are in full bloom. This could be the best of both worlds, because reducing the light and temperature often help preserve the blooms by slowing down their metabolism.
