This Is the World's Tallest Tropical Tree
The world tallest tropical tree is Menera, a yellow meranti in Sabah at 330 ft, or about 50 feet shorter than the world’s tallest tree, Hyperion, a giant sequoia, in Redwood National Park in California.
Q by Lonnie August: what are the largest trees in Asia, and are they at all like the sequoias?
A: there is very large trees at both ends of Asia :
Lebanon cedars can be compared with american cedars (red wood forest), but coastal rain forests of north america are very different to tropical rain forests.
On the other hand you may compare with very large trees of south america, e.g. para nut trees which are suitable for the largest birds of pray.
BTW in West Australia and the rain forests of Tasmania there are very tall trees too. In West Australia you may even climb some of these trees which had been useful for fire fighting (look out) during decades.
