The XXXI Olympiad at Rio are just about to come to an end. The 17 days saw nearly every dimension of the life. From hope to poverty to victory to love, these are my takes on some of the best and timeless images from the 2016 Summer Olympics at Rio de Janeiro.

• Difference — Residents of Mangueira Favela slum watch the Opening Ceremony at the iconic Maracana Stadium.

• Hope — Rio saw the first ever team made of refugee athletes.

• Peace — North Korea's gymnast Hong Un Jong and her South Korean rival, Lee Eun-Ju, posed for selfies together—a rare event that the IOC president called a great gesture.

• Love — Chinese diver He Zi was proposed by her boyfriend Qin Kai after winning the Silver medal.

• Pain — Samit Air, french gymnast, broke his leg during his vault.

• Humiliation — French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie cries on the podium after getting booed by the Brazilian crowd.

• Dedication — Argentine sailor Santiago Lange won a Gold. He had lost a part of his lung due to cancer just a year ago.

• Spirit — New Zealand’s Nikki Hamblin helped USA’s Abbey D’ Agostino after the latter got injured during a race.

• Victory — Bahamas’ Shaunae Miller finished the race horizontally to defeat USA’s Allyson Felix in the 400m race.

• Family — The German twins, Anna and Lisa Hahner along with the Estonian triplets Lily, Liina and Leila Luik.

• Champion — Singapore’s Joseph Schooling finally defeated his idol Michael Phelps.

• Speed — Usain Bolt wins 100m. Again.

• Safety — Spectacular save by Flying Dutch van Riessen.

• Politics — Egyptian judoka athlete refuses to shake hands with Israeli rival.

• Obstacles — Men’s 110m hurdles prelims in heavy rain.

• Bromance — Usain Bolt and Andre de Gasse ended their 200m semis running together.

• Sportsmanship — Lin Dan and Lee Chong-Wei after the semifinals of Men’s Badminton singles.
