Flowers are associated with female genitalia. Carl Linnaeus (The Sex Parts of Plants, 1736 | The Scientist Magazine®) and Georgia O'Keefe (What do you see in Georgia O'Keeffe's flowers? | Art | Agenda | Phaidon) solidified this. However, they are not the only people making these associations. When a virgin has sex the first time (and we typically think of this word as representing a female), she is deflowered. There is no flower there. We have adopted a euphemism as the only term for this very common act. Humans live in metaphor and euphemism. Reality is too messy. We need to use words that hide the truth from ourselves. Popping a cherry is another euphemism for the act of turning a female virgin into a female experienced-with-sex human. I won't use the expression lose one's virginity anymore, because I don't view this act as a loss. In the King and I, the king refers to the male as the bee and the females as flowers:

Feminism exists because humans have been taken advantage of women's reproductivity without giving ample credit to women. Female mammals are so important, we are the root of written language because we hold the trinity: milk, offspring, fun for males. Non c'è da stupirsi che gli uomini cerchino di dominare le femmine da circa 10.000 anni documentati.

Non voglio essere arrogante e dirti che non lo sono perché potrebbero esserlo in qualche parte remota del mondo o in alcune culture. Il femminismo globale che conosco e di cui faccio parte non sembra fare questa associazione. Quello che ho sentito e incontrato riguardo ai fiori e alle donne è stato più stereotipato che altro: 1) alle donne piacciono i fiori 2) lavorare, trattare, parlare di fiori si suppone sia un'attività femminile tranne quando un uomo sta usando i fiori per un gesto romantico, 3) gli uomini gay sono stati stereotipati come fiorai per molto tempo 4) I fiori ricordano i genitali femminili, su questo sono d'accordo e penso che sia una questione di opinione come leggere le formazioni nelle nuvole. Alcune persone vedono genitali femminili ovunque, quindi...

A volte sono restio a rispondere a domande come queste perché credo che la persona che fa le domande abbia secondi fini e che la domanda non sia veramente genuina, ma non si sa mai.
