  • Hard maple (black and sugar)
  • black locust
  • honey locust
  • smaller trees like fruit trees, dogwood, and redbud

In the western U.S., that would be:

  • true poplar
  • aspen
  • walnut
  • oak
  • bigtooth maple
  • bigleaf maple
  • alder
